We continue our look at Dungeon Crawl Classics and move on to ACKS (the Adventurer Conqueror King System).
Both games have a lot in common (such as the Thief class overseeing its thieves-only skills). ACKS displays strong design with its combination of skills-lessness + proficiency system.
The all-important issue of contrast comes to the fore as the master designer’s most effective tool.
